More Australians investing in UK property

The UK property investment market has seen an increase in the
number of Australians becoming landlords, it would seem.
According to the one London-based estate agent, Steve Smith, there
has always been an interest in British property from down
under.
He told the Australian Daily Telegraph that ten to 15 per cent of
the landlords on his books were from the country - and many of them
have taken advantage of the cheaper price of property in the last
couple of years.
The newspaper also reported comments from Martyn Gerrard, chairman
of the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) north-west
London division.
There has been "a lot of foreign interest in April/May not just
from Australia but from other places (such as Japan and Europe as a
whole)", the NAEA representative explained.
Earlier this month, the editor of Property Hawk website Chris Horne
suggested that overall demand for buy-to-let mortgage has remained
strong in recent times.
